FRMET & UAE4: SECOND ROUND OF THE SEASON AT ABU DHABI
A weekend to confirm the early trends
Formula Regional Middle East and UAE4 return once again this weekend to the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, a track well known to both teams and drivers. After an initial glimpse of the competitive order last weekend, teams arrive with more solid reference points. During the recent running, a broadly similar hierarchy has already emerged compared to last week, both in FRME and UAE4.
FRMET: the main contenders begin to stand out
In Formula Regional Middle East, the competitive order observed recently appears to be largely holding steady. Rashid Al Dhaheri, Christian Ho and Alex Powell look like solid benchmarks within the field, while PREMA drivers such as Sebastian Wheldon and Kean Nakamura-Berta continue to show strong potential to fight at the front.
For other teams, including G4 Racing and ART Grand Prix, the challenge will be to make progress in an extremely competitive midfield where the gaps remain very tight.
UAE4: an exciting fight at the front
In UAE4, the picture looks clearer. Andy Consani appears as one of the favourites this weekend, and potentially for the championship as well, with the ability to consistently fight for top positions. The French driver is expected to face direct competition from Oleksandr Bondarev, while Lindblom and Costoya should also not be overlooked, as they remain well placed in the overall hierarchy.
This battle could quickly become one of the key storylines of the weekend, given how close the performances appear among the leading contenders.
Qualifying set to be decisive
At Yas Marina, qualifying is particularly important. Limited overtaking opportunities and the impact of dirty air in race conditions make grid position a crucial factor. Starting at the front not only helps avoid traffic, but also allows better control of race pace and strategy, especially with the possibility of multiple interruptions.
This new round in Abu Dhabi represents an important opportunity for drivers and teams to assert their ambitions. R-ace GP currently appears to have the upper hand over PREMA across both championships.
