FORMULA 2 – INVICTA SHINES ON DAY 2 OF TESTING

The second day of Formula 2 pre-season testing in Barcelona was intense and action-packed. With several red flags, qualifying simulations and race runs, the teams continued their preparation work ahead of the season opener in Melbourne in March.

Morning: Camara leads in a tightly contested session

The morning session was marked by multiple interruptions. The first red flag was caused by Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak. Shortly after, at mid-session, teams began their first qualifying simulations, and it was Goethe who set the provisional fastest time.

Another red flag was triggered by Gabriele Minì before lap times started improving again. Rafael Camara and Alex Dunne made significant gains, climbing to the top of the timing sheets. Then, Noel Leon also brought out a red flag.

In the final hour, the gaps became even smaller. Rafael Camara finished on top with a 1:23.630, ahead of Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak (+0.018) and Alex Dunne (+0.026). The top ten were covered by less than three tenths, showing just how competitive the field already is.

Afternoon: Race simulations and Durksen on top

The afternoon session began with race simulations. Drivers completed long runs with more consistent pace, focusing on race preparation. The Invicta drivers appeared to be the strongest during this phase.

A red flag was caused by Colton Herta, briefly interrupting the session.

On the Rodin Motorsport side, Martinius Stenshorne was satisfied with the day:

“We’ve already done our race simulation and then have some aero tests and practice starts to do to finish off the session.

It’s been going well so far. This morning went quite well – that’s when we did our performance runs, and this afternoon has been ok too.”

Another red flag was later triggered by Mari Boya. Despite the interruptions, most drivers were able to complete long race runs.

Toward the end of the session, lap times improved again. Joshua Durksen eventually set the fastest time of the afternoon with a 1:25.363, ahead of Rafael Camara and Alex Dunne.

Day summary

This second day confirms the strong form of Invicta drivers, with Camara and Durksen already emerging as early favourites for the 2026 season. A battle with Rodin Motorsport appears to be taking shape.

Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak also looks like one of the rookies who has adapted most quickly to his new team, making a strong impression in these opening days of testing.
