F1 ACADEMY – PALMOWSKI SECURES FIRST POLE OF THE SEASON
After dominating practice earlier in the day, Alisha Palmowski confirmed her status as the favourite by taking pole position during F1 Academy qualifying in Shanghai.
The British driver had already set the tone during this morning’s practice session by setting the fastest time, with nearly half a second in hand over Alba Larsen and Payton Wescott. A performance that was expected from the Red Bull-backed driver.
At mid-session, it was Alba Larsen who held provisional pole with just over two tenths of a second ahead of Palmowski, while Lisa Billard completed the top three. The session was then interrupted by a red flag after Kaylee Countryman stopped on the straight before Turn 14.
At the end of the session, Alisha Palmowski secured pole position with nearly four tenths of a second over Alba Larsen, while Emma Felbermayr completed the top three.
Eighth in qualifying, Nina Gademan will inherit pole position for the first race of the season tomorrow thanks to the reversed grid.
