FORMULA 2 – HERTA TOPS FREE PRACTICE SESSION ON HOME SOIL
The Formula 2 free practice session in Miami was marked by several incidents, as well as the fastest time set by Colton Herta at his home race
In front of his home crowd, American driver Colton Herta set the fastest time of the session, highlighting his strong form at the start of the weekend on a track unfamiliar to the grid. He finished ahead of Kush Maini and Laurens Van Hoepen, who completed the top three at the end of a session that saw a few incidents.
A disrupted session
The first neutralization came after just a few minutes following a spin from Noël Léon. The driver remained stranded, bringing out a VSC and ending his session very early.
Moments later, his teammate Nikola Tsolov was also forced to stop running, already compromising Campos Racing’s weekend on a brand-new circuit.
It is also worth noting that Roman Bilinski did not take part in the session.
While running near the top of the timesheets, Laurens Van Hoepen had a big scare at the end of the session. After a spin, he hit the wall before managing to rejoin.
These practice sessions suggest an intense qualifying session on a brand-new track for Formula 2. For the drivers who didn’t get to run, it could be a difficult weekend ahead.
