BRANDO BADOER JOINS RODIN MOTORSPORT FOR 2027 FORMULA 2 SEASON
Brando Badoer will step up to Formula 2 in 2027, continuing his career with Rodin Motorsport. The Italian driver will move to the second level of the Formula 1 junior series after a strong second season in Formula 3, where he finished eighth in the Drivers’ Championship. The announcement makes Badoer the first driver confirmed by Rodin for its 2027 F2 line-up.
Badoer’s 2026 campaign included four podium finishes, highlighted by his first Formula 3 victory in the Feature Race in Monaco. Starting from second on the grid, he passed pole-sitter Théophile Naël at the first corner and then controlled the race to take the win. He led all 27 laps, securing an important result for himself and Rodin Motorsport.
The Italian also finished third in the Sprint Race in Melbourne, second in the Feature Race at Spa and third in Hungary. These results marked a clear improvement from his rookie season in 2025, when he scored 13 points and finished 25th in the Formula 3 standings with PREMA Racing. His progress in 2026 helped establish him as one of Rodin’s leading drivers.
Badoer will now face a new challenge in Formula 2, where the cars are faster and the races place greater demands on tyre management, strategy and consistency. The championship is the final major step before Formula 1, and a competitive season could help him move closer to his long-term goal of reaching the top category.
Continuing with Rodin gives Badoer the opportunity to build on a successful partnership. The team has supported his development in Formula 3 and will now help him adapt to Formula 2. Rodin Motorsport Sporting Director Benn Huntingford praised the Italian’s progress, pointing to his Monaco victory and multiple podiums as evidence of his potential.
Brando is the son of Luca Badoer, the former Formula 1 driver who raced for Minardi and competed in two Grands Prix for Ferrari in 2009. Luca also spent many years as a Ferrari test driver, contributing to the development of the cars during one of the team’s most successful periods. His experience in Formula 1 gives the family a strong connection to the sport, although Brando will need to build his own career through his results in the junior categories.
