LECLERC HIT WITH 20-SECOND PENALTY AFTER MIAMI RACE
Charles Leclerc has received a 20-second time penalty after the Miami Grand Prix, following several incidents during the last lap. The Ferrari driver was judged to have driven in unsafe conditions and repeatedly left the track, gaining an advantage despite struggling with his car.
Leclerc had been fighting for a podium position in the final laps, but his race took a dramatic turn. While trying to overtake Oscar Piastri for third place, he lost control in Turn 3 and spun. The incident caused damage to his front-left suspension, making it even more difficult to continue at a competitive pace.
The penalty came after the race, as stewards reviewed his actions. They determined that he had exceeded track limits multiple times and did not properly respect the conditions, which contributed to the decision.
As a result, Leclerc drops down the final standings to eighth place. This promotes Franco Colapinto to seventh and Lewis Hamilton to sixth, changing the outcome of the race in the midfield positions.
It was a disappointing end for Leclerc, who had shown strong pace earlier in the race but ultimately lost valuable points due to mistakes and team issues.
