ANTONELLI WINS IN MIAMI AFTER A STRONG COMEBACK DRIVE
Kimi Antonelli claimed an important victory in Miami after a race full of action and unexpected moments. Despite another imperfect start, the Mercedes driver stayed calm and rebuilt his race step by step, eventually taking the lead and holding off strong pressure from Lando Norris. Oscar Piastri completed the podium in third place after passing Charles Leclerc on the final lap.
The race began with some chaos at the front. Antonelli did not get a clean launch and was quickly challenged by Max Verstappen and Leclerc. The Ferrari driver took advantage and moved into the lead, while Verstappen spun after contact and dropped down the order. At the end of the first lap, Leclerc was leading ahead of Antonelli and the two McLaren drivers.
Early battles shaped the race, with Antonelli and Leclerc fighting for the lead and Norris staying close behind them. After a few laps, Antonelli managed to pass Leclerc, but the Ferrari driver responded shortly after to retake the position. Soon after, Norris joined the fight and eventually took the lead, showing strong pace once again.
The race changed on lap six when two separate accidents brought out the Safety Car. This allowed some drivers to make early pit stops, including Verstappen, who switched to hard tires very early in the race. This strategy helped him recover positions, but it would later cause problems due to tire wear.
When the race restarted, the fight at the front continued. Norris briefly led, but Antonelli remained close and ready to attack. As pit stops began, different strategies created new battles across the field. Antonelli managed his stop well and returned to the track in a strong position, eventually retaking the lead after a series of overtakes.
In the final part of the race, Antonelli controlled the pace while Norris tried to close the gap. The two drivers stayed very close, but Norris was unable to make a decisive move. Behind them, Verstappen began to struggle with worn tires, losing positions to Leclerc and later to Piastri, who was charging forward.
The final lap brought more drama. Leclerc, who was running in third place, suddenly lost performance due to a problem with his car. This allowed Piastri to pass him and take the final podium position. Leclerc then dropped further down the order, finishing sixth after also being overtaken by George Russell and Verstappen.
At the finish line, Antonelli secured a well-earned win, showing strong race management after a difficult start. Norris finished second after pushing throughout the race, while Piastri completed a strong result for McLaren in third. Russell finished fourth ahead of Verstappen, whose early strategy did not pay off in the end.
Lewis Hamilton had a difficult race and finished seventh after suffering damage early on. Franco Colapinto impressed with a solid drive to eighth place, while Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon completed the top ten. Overall, the race delivered excitement from start to finish and highlighted Antonelli’s growing strength as a race winner.
