RED BULL REPORTEDLY TARGETING PIASTRI AS POSSIBLE VERSTAPPEN REPLACEMENT

Red Bull has reportedly identified Oscar Piastri as its top choice to replace Max Verstappen if the four-time world champion leaves the team at the end of the season, as per Motorsportcom.

According to multiple sources in the Miami paddock, discussions about potential future replacements are already taking place inside Red Bull, despite Verstappen still being under contract for next season and the team publicly insisting that he will remain.

Reports claim that team principal Laurent Mekies and Red Bull executive Oliver Mintzlaff are evaluating several options in case Verstappen unexpectedly decides to join another team, take a sabbatical year, or even step away from Formula 1 completely.

Among the available drivers, Piastri is believed to be the leading candidate due to his impressive performances and rapid development since arriving in Formula 1. The Australian driver has quickly established himself as one of the strongest young talents on the grid and has attracted attention from multiple top teams across the paddock.

Even so, there is currently no confirmation that Verstappen plans to leave Red Bull, and the Dutch driver remains central to the team’s future plans. Any possible move would likely depend on several factors, including the competitiveness of the car under future regulations and Verstappen’s long-term motivation in the sport.

For now, the situation remains speculative, but the rumors have already become one of the biggest talking points inside the Formula 1 paddock.
