LAURENS VANTHOOR TO JOIN MCLAREN HYPERCAR PROGRAM

Laurens Vanthoor will reportedly race for McLaren’s new Hypercar program in the 2027 FIA World Endurance Championship season alongside Mikkel Jensen, with the lineup currently expected to remain limited to those two drivers for now.

The Belgian driver is set to become one of the key names in McLaren’s return to top-level endurance racing as the manufacturer prepares to enter the Hypercar category with its new LMDh project.

Despite the move to McLaren in WEC, Vanthoor is also expected to continue his dual racing program with Porsche in the IMSA SportsCar Championship. This would allow him to remain active in both major endurance racing series at the same time.

Vanthoor already has extensive experience in endurance racing and is widely regarded as one of the strongest GT and prototype drivers in the world. His background with Porsche and success in events such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans and IMSA championships make him a valuable addition to McLaren’s future project.
