MARCO BEZZECCHI BANNED FROM CZECH GP AFTER INCIDENT WITH MARSHAL
Marco Bezzecchi has been banned from taking part in the MotoGP Czech Grand Prix in Brno after a controversial incident during the Sprint Race.
The incident happened after Bezzecchi went down in the Sprint. As he returned to the crash site, marshals were already working to recover his Aprilia bike from the gravel. During the situation, a misunderstanding occurred when the motorcycle was accidentally affected while being handled, which appeared to trigger a frustrated reaction from the Italian rider.
According to reports from race officials and stewards and replays on the TV, Bezzecchi made physical contact with the marshal while trying to stop the bike and clear the situation. The action was immediately reviewed by the FIM MotoGP Stewards Panel, who later ruled that his behaviour was not acceptable under the sporting regulations.
He was judged to have committed an act “prejudicial to the interests of the sport,” which led to an immediate suspension from the remainder of the Czech Grand Prix weekend. This means Bezzecchi will not be allowed to take part in Sunday’s main race, removing one of the championship contenders from the event entirely.
The decision has a major impact on the championship fight, as Bezzecchi entered the weekend as the leading riders in the standings.
After the incident, Bezzecchi publicly apologised for his actions, acknowledging that his reaction in the heat of the moment was wrong. He also expressed respect for the work of marshals, who are responsible for ensuring rider safety and recovering bikes during incidents on track. Reports also indicate that he personally apologised to the marshal involved.
