PAYTON WESTCOTT WINS ACTION-PACKED SPRINT RACE IN F1 ACADEMY

The first F1 Academy race of the weekend delivered an incredible spectacle, with incidents, overtakes and plenty of battles throughout the field. Payton Westcott took the win ahead of Alba Larsen and Nina Gademan.

The race could not have started worse for Alisha Palmowski. The championship leader was stuck on the grid when the lights went out and eventually rejoined at the back, a disaster for the Red Bull driver.

At the start of the second lap, Natalia Granada ended up in the wall at Turn 3 after a battle with Emma Felbermayr, bringing out the first Safety Car of the race.

Lisa Billard enjoyed an excellent opening lap. Starting from 16th, the French driver gained five positions.

Exceptional comeback for Larsen

At the restart, Alba Larsen was particularly aggressive and began making a series of overtakes throughout the field.

A second Safety Car was then deployed following Jade Jacquet’s retirement. At the restart, Larsen continued her charge and overtook Nina Gademan across the line to move into second place.

Behind the leaders, the battles were numerous and intense in a very lively midfield, including contact between Robertson and Felbermayr.

After a particularly eventful race, Payton Westcott took a commanding victory. Alba Larsen finished second after an impressive comeback, while Nina Gademan completed the podium at home.
