MARC MARQUEZ WINS SACHSENRING SPRINT AFTER HOLDING OFF LATE CHALLENGE

Marc Marquez continued his dominance at the Sachsenring by winning the MotoGP Sprint for the second year in a row. The Ducati Lenovo Team rider converted pole position into victory after leading every lap of the 15-lap race, although he faced constant pressure from his brother Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio.

Marc Marquez made a perfect start from pole position and held the lead into the first corner, with Alex Marquez staying close behind in second. Ai Ogura briefly moved into third after a strong launch, but Fabio Di Giannantonio quickly passed him by the end of the opening lap. Further back, championship leader Jorge Martin climbed from eighth on the grid to sixth, while Fabio Quartararo and Pedro Acosta battled for the final points positions.

The race settled into a close fight at the front as Marc Marquez slowly began to build a small advantage. By the halfway stage, he had opened a gap of around half a second over Alex Marquez, while Di Giannantonio remained within striking distance in third.

Franco Morbidelli’s Sprint came to an early end after crashing before the halfway point, leaving one less contender in the fight for points.

In the closing laps, Alex Marquez reduced the gap to his brother to less than four tenths of a second, while Di Giannantonio also closed in on the Gresini Ducati. The Italian looked ready to challenge for second place on the final lap, but Alex Marquez defended his position well.

Marc Marquez crossed the finish line to secure another Sachsenring Sprint victory, completing a lights-to-flag performance. Alex Marquez finished second, while Di Giannantonio completed the podium after a strong late charge.

Ai Ogura finished fourth ahead of his Trackhouse Racing teammate Raul Fernandez, giving the team another excellent result. Championship leader Jorge Martin came home sixth, extending his advantage in the standings over the absent Marco Bezzecchi. Francesco Bagnaia finished seventh, while Pedro Acosta beat Fabio Quartararo in the battle for eighth place.

Brazilian rookie Diogo Moreira narrowly missed out on the final Sprint point after finishing tenth, but still ended the race as the highest-placed Honda rider.
