CITROËN FORMULA E TEAM PRINCIPAL CYRIL BLAIS PASSES AWAY AGED 46
Cyril Blais, Team Principal of the Citroën Formula E Team, has passed away at the age of 46. The cause of death has not been disclosed.
Blais had built a long career in motorsport, starting his journey in Formula 1’s junior categories. He began working as an engineer at Manor Motorsport in Formula 3 before moving to Arden, where he became one of the key figures in the team’s junior single-seater programs.
During his time at Arden, Blais progressed through different roles and eventually became Technical Director for the team’s Formula 3 and Formula 2 operations. He was involved in the development of young drivers competing on the path towards Formula 1 and gained experience in managing high-level racing projects.
In 2019, Blais moved into Formula E, joining the electric championship during a period of major growth. His experience in engineering and team management allowed him to take on important roles within the series before becoming Team Principal of the Citroën Formula E project.
The Citroën Formula E Team entered the championship as part of the manufacturer’s return to top-level motorsport, with Blais helping lead the operation as it prepared for competition in the Gen3 era of Formula E.
Throughout his career, Blais worked with several drivers and teams across different categories, contributing to the development of young talents and the technical growth of racing programs.
The motorsport community has shared tributes following the news, remembering Blais for his work behind the scenes and his contribution to multiple racing projects over more than two decades.
