FERRARI INTRODUCES NEW MACARENA REAR WING AND SF-26 UPDATE PACKAGE
Ferrari has introduced a major aerodynamic update package for the SF-26, including a heavily revised version of its rotating rear wing, known in the paddock as the “Macarena wing”.
After using lower downforce configurations at circuits such as Silverstone and Spa-Francorchamps, Ferrari returned to a higher downforce setup with the latest evolution package. The update is designed for tracks where cornering performance and mechanical grip are more important than pure straight-line speed.
The new package brings back the floor specification first seen at the Spanish Grand Prix, featuring three vertical elements aimed at improving airflow management under the car. Ferrari has also continued developing its rear wing concept to find a better balance between aerodynamic load and drag reduction.
The updated Macarena rear wing combines several aerodynamic solutions already seen on rival cars during the season. Ferrari has introduced hanger-style flaps on the outer sections, similar to concepts used by Red Bull, while the central part features solutions inspired by McLaren and Mercedes designs.
Ferrari is able to use this specific configuration thanks to the design of its rear wing system, which does not require a central actuator, giving the team more freedom in shaping the central aerodynamic area.
The main objective of the update is to increase overall downforce while keeping drag under control. This should help Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton on circuits where maintaining speed through corners is more important than maximum velocity on the straights.

The SF-26 has shown improved performance in recent races, including strong results at Spa-Francorchamps, where Leclerc finished second behind Kimi Antonelli. Ferrari is now continuing its development work to make these aerodynamic solutions effective across different types of circuits during the second half of the season.
The team is expected to evaluate the new package during the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend before deciding how widely it will be used in future races.
