DENNIS HAUGER JOINS AJ FOYT RACING FOR 2027 INDYCAR SEASON
Dennis Hauger will move to AJ Foyt Racing for the 2027 IndyCar season after signing a multi-year agreement with the team. The Norwegian driver will leave Dale Coyne Racing after one season and take over the No. 14 Chevrolet previously driven by Santino Ferrucci.
Hauger made his IndyCar debut in 2026 with Dale Coyne Racing as part of a technical partnership with Andretti Global. He finished the season with 228 points and 22nd place in the championship, but won the Rookie of the Year award after finishing ahead of Mick Schumacher and Caio Collet.
The Norwegian’s 2026 campaign included two top-five finishes and five top-10 results. His best result was eighth place at the Indianapolis road course, while he started the season-opening race at St. Petersburg from third on the grid.
Hauger’s move to IndyCar came after a successful 2025 season in Indy NXT. Driving for Andretti Global, he won six races and eight pole positions on his way to the championship, finishing 72 points ahead of teammate Caio Collet.
Before moving to the United States, Hauger also won the 2021 FIA Formula 3 Championship. He has therefore progressed through several levels of single-seater racing before reaching IndyCar, including Formula 4, Formula 3 and Indy NXT.
At AJ Foyt Racing, Hauger will replace Santino Ferrucci in the No. 14 Chevrolet. Ferrucci drove the car full-time from 2023 through 2026, finishing 17th in the 2026 championship. He is now looking for another opportunity in IndyCar and has said he is working on a possible part-time agreement with Foyt, although no deal has been confirmed.
Hauger’s arrival is also connected to changes around Dale Coyne Racing and Andretti. The Norwegian’s 2026 seat was created through the technical partnership between the two organisations, but for 2027 he will move directly to AJ Foyt Racing on a multi-year contract.
AJ Foyt Racing has not yet confirmed its complete 2027 driver line-up. The team is still working on its second car, with Josh Pierson among the drivers linked to the seat. Pierson’s potential move depends on meeting IndyCar’s licensing requirements.
