FORMULA 2 RETURNS TO BAKU, THE PREVIEW OF THE WEEKEND
Formula 2 goes to the Eurasian zone for round 11 of the 2025 championship, the third to last weekend of the season.
The standings see Leonardo Fornaroli leading the championship by 21 points over Luke Browning and 30 more than Richard Verschoor.
Although Fornaroli retired in qualy at Monza due to an engine issue, he started second in the Sprint race and won it, sealing his weekend home with a fifth place in Sunday’s main event.
Jak Crawford and Alexander Dunne did not score any points throughout the weekend of the Italian Grand Prix, and both saw their distance to the Invicta driver increase. Luke Browning went up to the second place in the standings winning from pole on a chaotic Feature race, while Verschoor managed to stay in the top 10 in both races.
Pirelli brings the softest allocation, softs and supersofts, as tyre wear is not high in this track, although the car may rely a lot on the rear tires.
Last year’s feature race was won by the Paraguayan Joshua Durksen with AIX, with the German team having found themselves very well around the circuit with the longest straight on the calendar.
Hitech TGR has also got good results over the years on this track, especially with Juri Vips winning two of the three races in the 2021 Azerbaijan GP with the British team.
Due to the very slow sections on the track, drivers may not opt for low downforce as we saw last year, making overtakes easier on the main straight, we will certainly see many variations of setups.
