JULES ROUSSEL WINS FORMULA 4 WORLD CUP AT MACAU AGAINST ALL THE ODDS
After starting from the second position behind the Italian Emanuele Olivieri, the French Jules Roussell has taken the win at Macau, bringing home the F4 World Cup.
Jules started very well from the first row, and immediately overtook Emanuele Olivieri who could never find momentum until the turn 3, the very first braking zone. He ended up losing second position to Rayan Caretti as well, making it a 1-2 for France at the start.
In the first lap, we had 3 retirements, two of them happening at the straight, with Shimo Zhang and Itsuki Sato, and in the infamous Lisboa turn 3 with Kyuho Lee.
Safety Car on track for a few laps, and as the track went back to green flag conditions both Olivieri and Caretti tried the attack on Roussel but they did not manage to do so.
In the meantime the Italian Formula 4 champion Kean Nakamura-Berta had to pit due to technical issues, and ended up having his dreams to win the legendary race crushed.
The fight for the win got between Caretti and Roussell all race long, while Emanuele Olivieri had to protect the last step of the podium from Ary Bansal.
With 3 laps to go however, Rayan Caretti went over oil residues and ended up crashing into the wall in sector 3. Information as per Michael McClure from Feeder Series.
The race finished under Safety car and France brought home the FIA Formula 4 World Cup at Macau, with Jules Roussel at the top, ahead of Emanuele Olivieri and Rintaro Sato, who overtook Bansal before the last safety car, as well as Sebastian Wheldon who finished fourth coming from 18th.
