MOTOGP TRANSFER RUMOUR ROUND-UP FOR THE 2027 SEASON
With the start of MotoGP’s European leg, the battle for the remaining seats on the 2027 grid is beginning to intensify. As contract negotiations heat up, several key moves are starting to take shape across the paddock.
VR46
At the moment, VR46’s second seat alongside Fermin Aldeguer appears to be a straight shootout between Honda rider and half-brother of team owner Valentino Rossi, Luca Marini, and current World Superbike Championship leader Nicolo Bulega.
The Italian has won 19 of the last WSBK races and is looking to replicate the move made by last year’s champion, Toprak Razgatlioglu, by switching to MotoGP.
Gresini Racing
After being linked with a return for former rider Enea Bastianini earlier this year, Gresini’s final seat now has a surprise new favourite.
2020 MotoGP World Champion Joan Mir is reportedly closing in on a deal with Nadia Padovani’s squad. The Spaniard secured a podium on track at the latest round in Catalunya before receiving a controversial 16-second tyre pressure penalty, which stripped him of the result.
Honda

After initially appearing set to place rookie David Alonso in the factory squad while retaining impressive Brazilian Diogo Moreira at LCR, Honda now seem poised to reverse those plans.
Instead, Alonso is expected to join the satellite team, while Moreira is set to earn a promotion to the factory Honda outfit.
KTM
KTM’s factory line-up appeared settled with an all-new pairing of Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio.
While Tech3 has confirmed it will remain with KTM despite speculation over its future, the team’s rider line-up remains uncertain. Maverick Viñales is expected to stay within the KTM structure despite a disappointing 2026 campaign so far.
Alongside him, Intact GP Moto2 rider Senna Agius has emerged as the favourite for promotion to MotoGP. It is no secret that Dorna and Liberty Media are keen to maintain Australian representation on the grid, and with Jack Miller expected to depart, Agius appears to be the strongest candidate to fill that role.
Other Expected Moves
Two additional transfers are expected to be confirmed in the coming months.
Trackhouse Racing is reportedly set to sign Tech3 rider Enea Bastianini, with the Italian expected to leave the Austrian manufacturer after two underwhelming seasons.
Meanwhile, Pramac Racing is expected to promote 2022 Moto3 World Champion Izan Guevara to its MotoGP squad. The Spaniard has been a consistent frontrunner throughout his fourth Moto2 season, earning a long-awaited step up to the premier class.
