LANDO NORRIS AWKWARDLY CENSORED IN INTERVIEW

An awkward moment involving Lando Norris has sparked debate about how Formula 1 drivers are managed during interviews. The current world champion was speaking with British journalist Donald McRae ahead of the Miami Grand Prix, but the conversation quickly became tense due to restrictions placed on what could be discussed.

Before the interview even began, McRae was reportedly asked not to bring up certain topics, including Norris’s relationships with other drivers like Max Verstappen and George Russell, as well as the new 2026 Formula 1 regulations. These are major subjects in the sport, so limiting them already set the tone for a controlled and unusual interview.

When McRae decided to ask about the new rules anyway, a member of Norris’s management team stepped in and tried to end the interview. Norris himself appeared willing to continue, but made it clear he was not the one in control, saying, “I’m not the boss.” The journalist then tried to move on to a safer topic, but the interview was again cut short by the management team, even as Norris questioned the decision and asked why he could not answer.

The situation became even more unusual when the management team provided a generic, pre-prepared quote about Verstappen instead of allowing Norris to speak freely. This made the exchange feel staged and limited, rather than a natural conversation between a driver and a journalist.

These incidents have raised concerns about how much control drivers and their teams have over the media.
