FORMULA E UNVEILS THE FINAL VERSION OF THE GEN4 CAR
Formula E has revealed its new GEN4 car at Paul Ricard, marking a major step forward for electric racing. This car will be developed further and used by teams in the 2026/27 season of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
The GEN4 car focuses heavily on innovation and sustainability. It is the first race car designed to be 100% recyclable, and 20% of its materials come from recycled sources. Formula E continues to position itself as a leader in environmentally friendly motorsport, using racing as a way to test solutions that could later be used in road cars. One key example is its advanced 600kW charging system, which could influence future electric vehicle technology.
In terms of performance, the GEN4 car is much faster and more powerful than its predecessor. It can reach a top speed of 335 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.8 seconds. This makes it even quicker off the line than a Formula One car. It can also reach 200 km/h in only 4.4 seconds, showing a clear improvement over the GEN3 Evo.
For the first time in Formula E, the car will feature all-wheel drive, giving it better grip and control on track. This change is expected to improve racing quality and make the cars easier to handle at high speeds. The GEN4 will also recover about 40% of the energy it uses during a race, making it highly efficient.

Power has also increased significantly. The car will have 50% more power in normal race mode and up to 71% more in Attack Mode. As a result, lap times will be much faster, with the GEN4 expected to be around 10 seconds quicker in qualifying and about five seconds faster during races compared to the GEN3 Evo.
