MCLAREN REVEALS NEW MCL-HY LMDh CAR FOR WEC 2027
McLaren has officially revealed its new LMDh race car, called the MCL-HY. The car will be built to compete in endurance racing and marks the company’s return to the top level of prototype competition.
The chassis of the MCL-HY is being developed by Italian manufacturer Dallara, a company well known for building successful racing cars in many categories around the world. Power will come from a twin-turbocharged V6 engine combined with a hybrid system, following the current LMDh regulations.
McLaren plans to debut the new car in the 2027 season of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). This means the MCL-HY is expected to race in famous events such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans against manufacturers including Ferrari, Porsche, Toyota, BMW, Cadillac, and Peugeot.
The company also hopes to bring the car to the IMSA SportsCar Championship in North America before 2030.
