FORMULA 3 RETURNS ON TRACK WITH SPIELBERG TESTING

After several weeks without running, Formula 3 is finally back on track this week in Austria for two days of testing at the Red Bull Ring.

These sessions mark the first appearance of the cars since the season opener in Australia. A long break followed after the cancellation of the Bahrain Grand Prix, leaving teams and drivers waiting for their return to action.

Drivers will be on track on May 20 and 21, with each day divided into two sessions. The morning running will take place from 09:00 to 12:00 local time on both days.

On the first day, the afternoon session will run from 14:00 to 17:00 local time. On the second and final day, the lunch break will be shorter, with the afternoon session starting at 13:00 and ending at 16:00 local time.

Teams will use the Soft compound Pirelli tyres throughout the test.

These two days will be important for everyone to get back up to speed on a fast and demanding circuit like the Red Bull Ring.

Beyond completing laps, the test is also a key part of the preparation for the next rounds of the championship. With the season set to become much busier, every lap will matter. Rookies will continue learning the car and the tracks, while more experienced drivers will try to find the extra pace needed to fight at the front.

This will also be the first time the Red Bull Ring has hosted an FIA Formula 3 test event.

The circuit is 4.326 kilometres long and includes three DRS zones. During last season’s race weekend, the fastest Qualifying lap was a 1:20.743, set by Nikola Tsolov for Campos Racing.

There will also be one driver change for the test. Rodin Motorsport will replace Christian Ho, who is unavailable because of academic commitments. Genaro Trappa will take his place.

Ernesto Rivera is also returning to action after his injury. Patrick Heuzenroeder had replaced him back in Australia and in pre-season testing.

After these tests, Formula 3 will travel to Monaco for the second round of the season following a three-month break.
