MID-OHIO BRINGS INDYCAR BACK TO A HISTORIC TRACK

This weekend, IndyCar returns to one of its most famous and demanding circuits: Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The race takes place in Lexington, in the Mid-West of the United States, and it is often seen as one of the key moments of the season. With its flowing layout, elevation changes, and tight corners, the track is a real test for both drivers and teams.

Mid-Ohio has been part of American motorsport history since 1962. It is a permanent road course that challenges drivers with a mix of fast and slow sections. The track starts with a quick left-hand turn after the pit straight, followed by a long acceleration zone leading into the Keyhole, a tight hairpin that requires heavy braking and careful control. After that comes the longest straight of the circuit.

The most difficult part of the lap comes next, where the cars enter a downhill braking zone into a complex section called China Beach. These corners are slow and technical, with changes in elevation that make the car unstable. This is also the area where Simon Pagenaud had his serious crash in 2023, an accident that had a major impact on his career.

After that section, the lap becomes faster again through the Esses and then the famous Thunder Valley. In this part, the barriers are very close, leaving almost no room for mistakes. The lap finishes with the Carousel, a long sweeping corner that leads into the final turn and back onto the pit straight.

In the championship, Alex Palou continues to lead the standings with a strong advantage. His consistency has kept him at the top of the table with 374 points. However, after the last race at Road America, his closest rivals have changed slightly.

David Malukas has moved up after finishing second and is now one of the main challengers. He is just behind Kyle Kirkwood in the standings, with only a small gap between them. Behind them are the McLaren drivers, with Christian Lundgaard on 297 points and Pato O’Ward further back.

As the season continues, the fight for the championship is still open behind Palou, even if he remains the clear reference point. Mid-Ohio could become another important moment in shaping how the title battle develops.
