FORMULA 2 ARRIVES AT SPA WITH THE TITLE FIGHT ENTERING A CRUCIAL PHASE

Formula 2 heads to the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit this weekend for the eighth round of the 2026 championship, with the battle for the title entering one of the most important moments of the season. As the championship moves beyond the halfway point, every mistake could have a major impact on the fight for the crown.

The Belgian weekend represents the final race before the summer break, meaning Spa could become a turning point for several drivers. The combination of a high-speed track, unpredictable weather and the importance of every championship point makes this one of the most anticipated rounds of the year.

TSLOV ARRIVES AS THE MAN TO BEAT

Nikola Tsolov enters Spa in the strongest form of his Formula 2 career. The Campos Racing driver has been almost unstoppable in recent rounds, winning three consecutive races and taking control of the championship battle after a dominant Silverstone weekend where he won both the Sprint and Feature races.

The Bulgarian has transformed his season after a difficult start. Early in the year, consistency was the main challenge, but Tsolov has now combined raw speed with better race management, allowing him to build a significant advantage over his rivals.

Heading into Belgium, Tsolov leads the championship with 141 points, ahead of Gabriele Minì on 124 points. His recent run has made him the clear favourite for the title, but with many rounds still remaining, the championship is far from decided.

MINÌ LOOKING TO STOP TSLOV’S MOMENTUM

Gabriele Minì remains Tsolov’s closest challenger and arrives at Spa determined to respond. The Italian had controlled much of the early season and showed impressive consistency, but the momentum has recently shifted towards the Campos driver.

Minì’s strength has been his ability to collect points almost every weekend, avoiding major mistakes and staying competitive in both Sprint and Feature races. In a long Formula 2 season, consistency is often the key factor in a championship fight, and the MP Motorsport driver will hope that strategy and experience can bring him back into contention.

Spa could be an ideal opportunity for Minì to recover ground. The Belgian circuit rewards confidence and technical ability, two areas where the Italian has already shown strong performances throughout his junior career.

CAMARA NEEDS A RESPONSE

Rafael Câmara is another driver who will be closely watched this weekend. The Invicta Racing driver entered the season as one of the favourites for the championship after impressive performances in junior categories, but his campaign has been more complicated compared with Tsolov and Minì.

The Brazilian has shown incredible pace and race-winning potential, but mistakes and missed opportunities have cost him valuable points. After losing ground in the title battle, Spa represents an important chance to restart his championship challenge.

Câmara remains one of the fastest drivers on the grid, and on a circuit like Spa, where overtaking opportunities are available, he could quickly return to the fight if he puts together a complete weekend.

VILLAGOMEZ LOOKING TO CONTINUE HIS RISE

Rafael Villagomez enters Belgium with renewed confidence after a strong performance at Silverstone. The Mexican driver secured two podium finishes during the British weekend, giving his season an important boost.

Those results allowed Villagomez to break into the top 10 of the championship standings and prove that he can fight at the front when everything comes together.

NEW DRS ZONE ADDED

A new DRS zone has been added after the Blanchemont. Though it is a short straight and it may not have much effect, at the same time it could keep drivers fighting for a position.
