FORMULA 3 ARRIVES AT SPA APPROACHING THE END OF THE SEASON
Formula 3 returns to action this weekend at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit for the sixth round of the 2026 championship. With only a few events remaining on the calendar, the battle for the title is beginning to take shape, and every point is becoming increasingly important.
The Belgian weekend marks the start of the final stretch of the season, with drivers now fighting not only for race victories but also for championship momentum. With Spa followed by the final rounds of the year, mistakes at this stage could prove extremely costly.
The 2026 Formula 3 season has already produced a competitive title battle, with several young talents showing impressive speed and consistency. However, as the championship enters its decisive phase, the gap between the main contenders is starting to become clearer.
UGOCHUKWU REMAINS THE DRIVER TO BEAT
Ugo Ugochukwu arrives at Spa-Francorchamps as the championship leader after an impressive season built around consistency and strong race management.
The American driver has been one of the most complete competitors on the grid, regularly scoring points and avoiding the major setbacks that have affected some of his rivals. His ability to deliver strong results across different circuits has allowed him to establish himself at the top of the standings.
For Ugochukwu, Spa represents an important opportunity to strengthen his championship position before the final rounds. A strong result in Belgium could give him a significant advantage heading into the closing stages of the season.
The McLaren junior has already shown that he can perform under pressure, but Formula 3 championships are often decided by small margins. Maintaining consistency will be essential as his rivals continue to push.
SLATER CONTINUES THE TITLE CHASE
Freddie Slater remains Ugochukwu’s biggest threat in the championship battle. The British driver has been one of the standout performers of the season and continues to prove that he has the speed necessary to fight for the title.
Slater’s performances have been particularly impressive considering the high level of competition in Formula 3, where small differences in qualifying or race strategy can completely change the outcome of a weekend.
Heading into Spa, Slater knows that he cannot afford to lose more ground. A victory or podium finish in Belgium could completely change the championship situation and put him back in control of his own destiny.
With several races still remaining, the fight between Ugochukwu and Slater could become one of the main stories of the final part of the 2026 season.
GLADYSZ ENTERS THE SPOTLIGHT AFTER FIRST WIN
Maciej Gladysz arrives at Spa with confidence after achieving his first Formula 3 victory at Silverstone.
The Polish driver delivered one of the biggest moments of his season in the United Kingdom, securing an important breakthrough and moving closer to the top positions in the championship standings.
The victory was not only valuable in terms of points but also in terms of confidence. Winning in Formula 3 is a major achievement, and Gladysz will now aim to use that momentum to continue fighting near the front.
A strong weekend at Spa could allow him to challenge for an even higher position in the championship during the final rounds.
NAËL LOSING GROUND IN THE TITLE FIGHT
While Ugochukwu and Slater continue their battle at the top, Théophile Naël has seen his championship hopes become more difficult in recent races.
The French driver was considered one of the main contenders earlier in the season, but a lack of strong results has caused him to lose ground compared with his main rivals.
Although the championship is not over, Naël now needs a major turnaround during the remaining events to return to the title fight. Formula 3 can change quickly, but the margin for error is becoming smaller with every race.
MADRID TO DECIDE THE CHAMPIONSHIP
The 2026 Formula 3 season will conclude in Madrid, where the championship finale will take place after the cancellation of the planned Bahrain round.
The final event will feature a unique format, giving drivers the possibility of scoring up to 67 points during a perfect weekend. This means the championship could remain open until the final race.
The Madrid weekend will include two qualifying sessions on Friday, a Sprint Race and Feature Race on Saturday, followed by another Feature Race on Sunday.
The first qualifying session will determine the grid for Saturday’s Feature Race, while the second qualifying session will decide the starting order for Sunday’s race. The Sprint Race grid will be created by reversing the top 12 positions from the first qualifying session.
With so many points available, the season finale could become a decisive battle and potentially produce a dramatic championship conclusion.
NEW DRS ZONE ADDED

A new DRS zone has been added after the Blanchemont. Though it is a short straight and it may not have much effect, at the same time it could keep drivers fighting for a position.
