FORMULA 2 TO NORTH AMERICA: WELCOME TO MIAMI
A long-awaited return
Formula 2 returns to action this weekend in Miami for the second round of the 2026 season. After the opening round in Australia, drivers have had to wait several weeks before getting back on track, following the cancellation of two race weekends.
Another key element this weekend is the discovery of a new circuit. Miami has never hosted Formula 2 since its introduction to the Formula 1 calendar in 2022. Simulator work has been crucial during this long break, allowing drivers to prepare as much as possible ahead of their arrival in the United States.
With this new track to learn, the free practice session will be extremely important for all drivers. Between technical braking zones, fast corners and long straights, finding the right setup will be crucial for the teams. Tyre management will also play a decisive role, especially with the high temperatures expected in the early stages of the weekend.
Tsolov leads, rivals ready to strike
In the championship standings, Nikola Tsolov arrives as the leader after his victory in Australia. After a strong opening weekend, he heads to Miami as the man to beat.
Behind him, Rafael Camara has shown great consistency and currently sits second in the standings. The Brazilian will be eager to confirm his pace and close the gap to the top, as he is widely seen as a title favourite and a strong contender for a Formula 1 seat in 2027.
Laurens Van Hoepen completes the top three and remains close behind. A pleasant surprise for the Dutch driver, who could use this weekend to take another step forward and potentially establish himself as a regular front-runner.
Uncertain weather that could change everything
Finally, the weather could play a major role in how the weekend unfolds, with rain forecast for Sunday, the day of the feature race.
All of this sets the stage for an exciting return for Formula 2. Between a brand-new circuit and unpredictable weather, Miami promises a thrilling weekend of racing.
