KIMI ANTONELLI AIMS FOR NÜRBURGRING GT3 LICENCE IN FUTURE RACING STEP

The leader of the championship, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, is reportedly planning to expand his racing career beyond Formula 1 by pursuing a GT3 programme and targeting a licence for the Nürburgring Nordschleife before the end of the year.

The move would follow a similar path to Max Verstappen, who has recently shown increasing interest in GT3 racing and endurance-style competition alongside his Formula 1 career.

Antonelli’s goal is said to include completing the necessary steps to qualify for racing at the demanding Nürburgring circuit, one of the most challenging tracks in motorsport history. The circuit is part of the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife, widely known for its length, difficulty, and strict licensing requirements.

The young driver reportedly discussed his ambitions with Jules Gounon, who is also connected to Verstappen’s GT3 programme and has experience competing in high-level GT racing.

If successful, the licence would allow Antonelli to compete in GT3 machinery at the Nürburgring, a major step outside single-seater racing and into endurance-style competition. This type of transition has become increasingly common among top-level drivers looking to diversify their experience in modern motorsport.
