PIRELLI TO REMAIN FORMULA 1’S EXCLUSIVE TYRE SUPPLIER THROUGH 2028

Formula 1 has officially announced that Pirelli will remain the exclusive tyre supplier for the FIA Formula 1 World Championship through the end of the 2028 season.

The agreement extends Pirelli’s long-standing partnership with Formula 1 and ensures that every team on the grid will continue to use Pirelli tyres during the upcoming generation of regulations. The Italian manufacturer has served as Formula 1’s sole tyre supplier since 2011 and will now continue in that role for at least three more seasons beyond the current contract.

The extension also covers Formula 1’s main support categories. Formula 2, Formula 3, and F1 Academy will continue to race on Pirelli tyres through 2028, maintaining consistency across the development ladder that prepares young drivers for Formula 1.

For teams and drivers, the announcement provides stability during a period of major regulatory change. Engineers will be able to continue working with a familiar tyre supplier, while drivers progressing through Formula 3, Formula 2, and F1 Academy will gain experience with products developed by the same manufacturer used in Formula 1.

One notable exception remains the Porsche Supercup, which operates independently from Formula 1’s tyre supply agreement and is not included in the extension,, as they have always used Michelin tires.
