VERSTAPPEN WARNS F1 OVER 2027 RULE CHANGES

Max Verstappen has sent another clear warning to Formula 1 over the planned 2027 power unit changes. The Red Bull driver is unhappy with the current direction of the rules and says the sport must improve the balance between combustion power and electric energy.

The main debate is around a possible 60/40 power split for 2027. Verstappen supports the idea because he believes it would make the cars feel more natural to drive and improve the racing. Without that change, he has made it clear that staying in Formula 1 could become very difficult for him mentally.

Verstappen said that if things remain the same, another long season under those rules would be “mentally not doable.” His frustration appears to come from the feeling that modern F1 is becoming too focused on energy management instead of pure driving.

The Dutchman also made it clear that a break from Formula 1 is not something he is seriously planning. When asked about taking time away and coming back later, Verstappen suggested that there are many other things in life he would enjoy outside the sport.

His comments do not mean he is definitely leaving Formula 1, but they are a strong message to the FIA, F1 and the manufacturers. Verstappen wants the 2027 changes to make the cars more enjoyable to race, and if that does not happen, his future on the grid may become a much bigger question.
