F1 ACADEMY: PAATZ TAKES VICTORY AFTER A DRAMATIC RACE 2

The second race of the F1 Academy weekend delivered plenty of action, with a chaotic event marked by several incidents.

As the lights went out, Ferreira made an excellent launch and grabbed the lead ahead of Countryman. However, the move was later penalised for a jump start, a setback that ultimately ruined the Brazilian driver’s chances of victory.

The race quickly turned into chaos for Emma Felbermayr, who was spun around by Alba Larsen, forcing her to rejoin at the back of the field.

At the same corner, an incident involving Dobson and Autumn Fisher led to the deployment of the safety car to neutralise the race.

At the restart, battles erupted throughout the field, with plenty of wheel-to-wheel action.

Alisha Palmowski, Megan Bruce and Nina Gademan were involved in a crash at Turn 2, triggering a second safety car and forcing the Dutch driver to retire.

Taking advantage of Ferreira’s penalty, Mathilda Paatz secured the victory after a perfectly controlled race, following her first podium in Race 1.

On the final lap, Alba Larsen overtook Countryman, who still held on to complete the podium.

A strong recovery drive from Emma Felbermayr is also worth noting, as she climbed back to P8 after her first-lap spin.
