MARQUEZ WINS CHAOTIC JEREZ SPRINT AFTER CRASH
Marc Marquez won a wild MotoGP sprint race at Jerez, even after crashing, in one of the most chaotic races in recent memory. The race started dry and normal, but everything changed when sudden rain hit near the end.
At the start, Marc led from pole position and built a small gap while Johann Zarco held up Alex Marquez behind him. Once Alex got past Zarco, he quickly caught Marc and took the lead on lap seven. It looked like Alex would win, but then light rain turned into heavy rain.
Some riders went to the pits early to change bikes. Marc crashed at the final corner but quickly got back on and cut across to the pitlane to stay in the race. Soon after, many riders crashed, including Alex, as conditions became very slippery.
Brad Binder briefly looked set to win after making the right call to pit early, but he also crashed. Pecco Bagnaia then took the lead, but Marc passed him soon after, giving Ducati a 1-2 finish.
Franco Morbidelli finished third after a difficult race, while Binder recovered to fourth. Fabio Di Giannantonio, Raul Fernandez, Fabio Quartararo, Johann Zarco, and Luca Marini completed the top positions.
Many riders crashed out, including Alex Marquez, Marco Bezzecchi, and Jorge Martin. Despite his crash, Bezzecchi still leads the championship, but his advantage is now smaller after this dramatic race.
