FORMULA 2 HEADS TO CANADA FOR AN UNPREDICTABLE WEEKEND
Formula 2 continues its season this weekend with the third round, taking place at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal. It was initially scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia, but the geopolitical situation has led F2 to continue its season on the North American continent. After two race weekends, a hierarchy is starting to emerge, but in Canada, on an unfamiliar track, everything remains uncertain.
Tsolov arrives as championship leader
At the top of the standings, Nikola Tsolov heads into the Canadian weekend as the driver to beat. Consistent since the start of the season, the Red Bull junior has taken control of the championship with two victories already to his name. He will need to confirm his adaptability and consistency to maintain his advantage against strong competition.
Mini and Camara lying in wait
Behind him, the competition is fierce. Gabriele Minì, boosted by his victory in the last round in Miami, is emerging as one of his main rivals. The Italian has proven he can turn his talent into concrete results and arrives in Canada full of confidence.
Rafael Camara, meanwhile, is relying on his consistency. With two podium finishes already this season in his rookie campaign, he remains close to the leader and could seize any opportunity. In a championship like Formula 2, every point will count, even if the top three are starting to pull away from the rest of the field.
An unknown circuit for everyone
This weekend in Montreal presents a major challenge: it will be a complete discovery of the track for all drivers and teams. Formula 2 has no prior experience on this circuit, adding a significant element of uncertainty.
The Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, known for its long straights and tight sections between the walls, should encourage overtaking throughout the weekend. The practice session will therefore be crucial for everyone, as was the case in Miami.
This third weekend of the Formula 2 season promises to be particularly unpredictable. Especially as rain could potentially disrupt Sunday’s running, a scenario already seen in Miami.
