ALONSO AND ASTON MARTIN SCORE THEIR FIRST POINT OF 2026

Fernando Alonso finished the Monaco Grand Prix in 11th place on track, just outside the points positions. However, the final classification changed after a penalty was applied to another driver following the race.

Sergio Perez received a 10-second time penalty for an infringement during the race restart. The FIA stewards ruled that his car was not correctly positioned at the restart after the red flag period.

According to the official stewards’ decision, Perez’s car was found to be out of position in the starting box, with the front right wheel placed outside the marked area. This was considered a breach of Article B5.11 of the FIA Formula 1 Sporting Regulations.

The stewards reviewed multiple sources of evidence, including positioning and marshalling system data, onboard camera footage, and team communications. After the investigation, they confirmed that the standard penalty for this type of infringement was a 10-second time penalty applied after the race.

As a result of this penalty, Perez dropped behind Alonso in the final classification. This promoted Alonso into the points, giving Aston Martin their first points finish of the season after a difficult start.
