FORMULA 1 DOES NOT STOP: TIME FOR THE BRITISH GRAND PRIX AT SILVERSTONE

Formula 1 does not stop and is already ready for the next race of the 2026 season. After racing in Austria at the Red Bull Ring, the championship moves to Silverstone for the British Grand Prix, the ninth round of the year.

Silverstone is one of the most famous and fastest tracks in Formula 1. It is also a special race for Aston Martin, whose factory is located very close to the circuit. Many other teams also consider this their home race because they are based in the United Kingdom.

The British Grand Prix will use the Sprint weekend format. This means there will be only one practice session before Sprint Qualifying on Friday. The result of this session will decide the starting order for the Sprint Race.

The Sprint Race will take place on Saturday afternoon and will cover 100 kilometers. It will be a short race before the main qualifying session and the traditional Grand Prix on Sunday, which remains the most important event of the weekend.

The championship arrives at Silverstone after George Russell returned to winning in Austria. His previous victory came in Australia, the first race of the season. Racing in front of his home fans, Russell hopes to continue his good form and reduce the gap to championship leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli.

Antonelli still leads the standings and has a 40-point advantage over his Mercedes teammate. Before the Spanish Grand Prix, the gap between them was 68 points, but Russell has managed to close in during the last races.

Mercedes has been the team to beat so far this season. Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull will try to challenge the two Mercedes cars at Silverstone and keep their hopes alive for both race wins and the world championship battle.

The British Grand Prix was first held in 1950. The Silverstone circuit is 5.891 kilometers long and the race will last for 52 laps, for a total distance of 306.198 kilometers. The track has 18 corners and two DRS zones to help overtaking.

Silverstone is one of the most famous tracks in Formula 1 and has hosted the British Grand Prix since 1950. The circuit is fast, with many high-speed corners and quick changes of direction.

What does Pirelli bring to Silverstone

The track surface is not very rough, but some corners create forces of more than 5g on the cars. These forces put a lot of stress on the tyres, especially the front-left tyre because of the many right-hand corners.

For this reason, Pirelli will bring its hardest tyre compounds: C1, C2, and C3. Teams are expected to make only one pit stop during Sunday’s race, most likely using the C2 and C3 tyres.

In recent years, the C3 tyre has sometimes suffered from light graining, while the C1 and C2 have been more consistent. Since the weekend includes a Sprint race, the C1 tyre will probably be used mainly during Friday practice.

Rain could also affect the race weekend. British weather is often unpredictable, and wet tyres have played an important role at Silverstone in the past.

The track presents four straight mode zones. Super clipping may be one of the main topics this weekend as most of the circuit is driven flat out.
