F1 ACADEMY HEADS TO SILVERSTONE FOR A CRUCIAL WEEKEND
F1 Academy arrives at Silverstone this weekend for the third round of the 2026 season and the halfway point of the championship. It is also a historic moment, as the series races for the first time at the home of the very first Formula 1 World Championship race in 1950.
Silverstone is one of the most famous and challenging circuits in motorsport. Its fast corners and flowing layout will test the drivers’ skill and confidence, while changing track conditions and tyre management could also play an important role throughout the weekend.
Although this is F1 Academy’s debut at the British circuit, many drivers already know the track thanks to pre-season testing and experience in series such as British F4 and GB4.
Alisha Palmowski arrives as the championship leader after two dominant victories in Canada gave her a 25-point advantage over Emma Felbermayr. The British driver has been the standout performer of the season so far and will be looking to extend her lead in front of her home fans at a circuit she knows very well.
Campos Racing also enters the weekend in excellent form, while fellow British drivers Megan Bruce, Ella Lloyd and Rachel Robertson will hope to impress on home soil.
For Lloyd, Silverstone could be a turning point in her season. Last year’s top rookie has struggled to match expectations in 2026 and currently sits eighth in the standings. However, she was one of the fastest drivers during testing at Silverstone and will be aiming to restart her title challenge.
Another driver to watch is wildcard entry Chiara Bättig. The 16-year-old Swiss driver competes in British F4 and already has experience at Silverstone, including a podium finish earlier this year. With no wildcard driver having reached the podium in F1 Academy so far, Bättig could have the chance to make history.
With the championship reaching its halfway stage, the Silverstone weekend could prove decisive. Palmowski may strengthen her position at the top, or the battle for the title could become closer as the season moves into its second half.
