INDYCAR EXPANDS FULL-TIME PUSH TO PASS SYSTEM
INDYCAR has confirmed that the Push to Pass system will now be available for full-time use on both street circuits and permanent road courses, starting this weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The driver-controlled boost system will become active immediately after cars cross the alternative start/finish line following the green flag. This change means drivers will have access to the extra power throughout the race under the updated rules.
Push to Pass gives drivers a temporary increase in engine performance, helping create more overtaking opportunities and strategic battles on track. The system has already become one of the most important tools in modern INDYCAR racing, especially during close fights for position.
With the new expansion, teams and drivers will need to adapt their race strategies even further, balancing aggression, defense, and energy management during the event. The update is expected to make races even more dynamic as drivers gain more freedom in how and when they use the additional power boost.
