MARC MÁRQUEZ EXTENDS DUCATI CONTRACT UNTIL THE END OF 2028
Marc Márquez has officially renewed his contract with the Ducati Lenovo Team, confirming that the eight-time world champion will remain with the factory Ducati squad until the end of the 2028 MotoGP season. The agreement ends speculation about his future and keeps him at the centre of Ducati’s long-term plans.
The extension comes at a key moment for MotoGP, with major regulation changes expected in 2027 that will include new engine rules and a tyre supplier change. Ducati is aiming to stay the benchmark team during this transition, and keeping Márquez is seen as a major part of that strategy.
Since joining Ducati, Márquez has returned to top form after difficult years, quickly becoming a regular front-runner again. His experience and speed make him a key figure for the manufacturer as it prepares for the next era of the championship.
Attention is also on Ducati’s future rider plans, with Spanish star Pedro Acosta widely expected to join the factory project. Acosta, one of the most promising young riders in MotoGP, has impressed since stepping into the premier class after winning titles in Moto3 and Moto2.
If confirmed, a Márquez–Acosta pairing would give Ducati one of the strongest line-ups on the grid, combining experience and youth at a crucial moment for the sport’s technical reset.
The move strengthens Ducati’s position heading into 2027 and reduces uncertainty in the rider market, as several other top seats across MotoGP are still being decided.
