STRØMSTED WINS CHAOTIC F3 FEATURE RACE IN SPIELBERG
Noah Strømsted took victory in the Formula 3 Feature Race at Spielberg after a chaotic event filled with interruptions, penalties, and constant position changes. The Trident driver stayed calm through the chaos and delivered a strong late-race performance to secure the win ahead of Ugo Ugochukwu and teammate Freddie Slater.
The race began with Hiyu Yamakoshi starting from pole position, but the lead changed quickly as championship leader Ugo Ugochukwu made a strong start and took control early on. Behind them, the field immediately became tense, with close battles through the opening corners.
The first major interruption came after contact in the midfield between Maciej Gładysz and Yevan David, which brought out the Safety Car. This neutralised the race and erased early gaps.
At the restart, Strømsted began to move forward, overtaking Yamakoshi and joining the fight at the front. Soon after, another incident involving Michael Shin and Fernando Barrichello triggered a Virtual Safety Car, adding further disruption to the rhythm of the race.
As the race developed, Freddie Slater emerged as a key contender. Taking advantage of the constant battles and mistakes in front, he moved into the lead during the central phase of the race.
At the same time, race control issued several penalties for incidents and infractions, affecting drivers such as Mattia Colnaghi, Fionn McLaughlin, and Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi, adding even more unpredictability to the order.
Despite the chaos, Strømsted stayed close to the leaders, keeping himself in contention while the fight at the front continued to shift between multiple drivers.
In the final stages, Ugo Ugochukwu briefly regained the lead with around five laps remaining, turning the race into a multi-driver battle for victory. However, Strømsted responded immediately and reclaimed first place in the closing laps.
From there, the Danish driver controlled the race to the finish, holding off pressure and managing the final laps perfectly to take the win.
Slater crossed the line in third after a strong drive, completing a double podium for Trident. Pedro Clerot finished fourth ahead of Jin Nakamura, while further down the order several drivers recovered positions in a race defined by attrition and penalties.
Despite finishing second, Ugo Ugochukwu maintains his lead in the championship standings with 78 points. Freddie Slater moves up to second on 62 points, while Théophile Naël sits third with 52. Bruno Del Pino is fourth, and Strømsted’s victory brings him level with Brando Badoer in the fight for fifth place in the standings.
